Weekly Viewer's Guide – Week 10

Morning Games – 9AM PT Kickoff
Oklahoma St. vs Baylor - FSN
Michigan vs Illinois – ESPN
Miami vs Maryland – ESPNU
Clemson vs NC State – ACC Network/ESPN GP
Purdue vs Wisconsin – Big Ten Network
Vanderbilt vs Florida – SEC Network/ESPN GP
Michigan St. vs Minnesota – Big Ten Network
Army vs Air Force – CBS College Sports

Finally, a week where the morning games actually have some value. Oklahoma St. and Baylor play to determine which team joins Oklahoma as the co-favorite in the Big 12 South. Meanwhile, Michigan and Illinois both feature coaches on varying degrees of the hotseat and Maryland is an underdog to Miami despite controlling its own destiny in the ACC Atlantic. Also, Clemson and NC State should be an entertaining scrap with the both teams still in the ACC Title Race (Clemson much more on the periphery).

Afternoon Games – 1230 PM PT Kickoff
Utah vs TCU – CBS College Sports
LSU vs Alabama – CBS
Boise St. vs Hawaii – ESPNU
Penn St. vs Northwestern – ABC/ESPN2
Oregon vs Washington – ABC/ESPN2/ESPN GP
Iowa St. vs Nebraska – ABC Regional/ESPN GP
Florida St. vs North Carolina – ABC Regional/ESPN GP
Washington St. vs Cal – FSN Regional

Lots going on here as well. The Utah/TCU game should be watched by everyone (CBS College Sports is on a free preview this weekend for those who don't have the channel normally) and the rest should be on the LSU/Alabama game. The rest don't really matter other than to check the scores on the inevitable blowouts turned in by Boise St. and Oregon against this week's overmatched opponents.

Primetime Games – 4-5 PM PT Kickoff
Stanford vs Arizona – ABC Regional/ESPN GP
South Carolina vs Arkansas – ESPN
Texas A&M vs Oklahoma – FSN
UCLA vs Oregon St. - Versus
Kansas St. vs Texas – ESPN2
Texas Tech vs Missouri – ABC Regional/ESPN GP
Memphis vs Tennessee – CBS College Sports

Two strong games at the top (only one for those of you in Big 12 country) highlight a good but not great slate of primetime games. This of course is what happens when networks outside of the ESPN family own the best games on a given Saturday.

Late Night Games – 7PM PT Kickoff or later
USC vs Arizona St. - FSN

A tasty late night treat is there to be had this week. Can USC bounce back from the disappointment or will Arizona St. finally get the Trojan monkey off its back after 10 straight defeats (the Trojan winning streak over ASU predate the Carroll era entirely).

1 comment:

  1. Texas and Florida should have to play each other in the Ripley's Believe it or Not "What the Hell Happened" Bowl this holiday season.
