Lowlights Countdown Week 8

10. Weekly New Mexico futility update – The Lobos were finally competitive in a game against a decent team losing 30-20 at home to San diego St. It still appears they are on the way to 0-12 and the firing of the head coach considering that even winning one game would still be 2-22 over two years.

9. Arkansas in the second half – The Razorbacks won again and once again gave up boatloads of yards and points after halftime. Arkansas nearly blew both the Texas A&M and Georgia games by did and did blow the Auburn and Alabama games while leading. If this continues, Arkansas could be headed to 8-4 or even 7-5 with remaining games against South Carolina, Mississippi St. and LSU.

8. Oklahoma St. defense – The Oklahoma St. offense is amazing. 41 points on Nebraska is incredible. Too bad the defense is terrible. 51 points and most of it through the air to Nebraska is terrible, especially the week after Texas held Nebraska to 13. 38 to Troy and 35 to Texas A&M also wasn't exactly masterful. I shutter to think what Oklahoma will do to this team.

7. Utah St. in conference play – Utah St. was decent in non-conference play. They pushed Oklahoma in a seven point loss and beat BYU for the first time since 1993. Too bad they started WAC play. Utah St. has just been awful and getting smashed at home against Hawaii on Saturday might be the low point considering Hawaii is much weaker on the road (see loss to Colorado) than they are at home (see win over Nevada).

6. The Mountain West against Utah and TCU – Utah and TCU continued obliterating Mountain West opposition. It is an accomplishment to even score many times against these teams in conference play let alone stop the offenses. The game between these two in two weeks should be incredible.

5. UCLA – 32-3 at halftime. 60-13. I don't care if it was the number one team in a road Thursday game. We all expected a blowout but that was ridiculous. At least try and make it close.

4. Auburn trick play defense – LSU was in the game at the end in part because of a trick play touchdown. Considering its LSU, why would you not be ready for that especially since they have successfully run some sort of trick play against you nearly every time you have played them since Les Miles took over as the LSU coach. That said, it was well-executed by LSU.

3. Tennessee – This team is just melting down. The coach is using Nazi references in post game press conferences and the starting quarterback is complaining the backup is getting time even though the backup is the future and probably equal in the present. The running back is happy because he got his numbers (first back since 2007 to go over 100 yards against Alabama) oh well with winning or losing and the defense continues to quit in the second half of games that are close at halftime. This team is a disaster.

2. Notre Dame in every phase – On talent alone, there is no excuse for Notre Dame to ever lose to Navy. The losses the last two times have been embarrassing, but this year takes the cake. New coach and new scheme, didn't matter. Notre Dame got blown out. That is just awful.

1. Big East with a BCS auto-bid – Pittsburgh and its three non-conference losses seems to be the best team in the Big East. That is just awful. We are going to have to watch one of these teams in a BCS game Please let it be Syracuse. The Orange may not have any chance of winning, but they are the traditional power in that league down though they have been and might ultimately be the contender needed.
