Florida (4-0) - Have been dominant enough against middling competition that there has been no reason to drop them from number 1.
Texas (4-0) - Ditto.
Alabama (5-0) - Maybe the most impressive team so far, I still wonder how they will fare against an elite defense as Virginia Tech hasn't played defense in September in at least three years
Cincinnati (5-0) - Hold a couple of solid wins and beat Rutgers badly enough that the Scarlet Knights are totally irrelevant despite not losing since
Virginia Tech (4-1) - The wins over Nebraska and Miami are the most impressive pair of victories anyone has. Too bad they lost to Alabama
Nebraska (3-1) - No real wins of note, but should have beat Virginia Tech and look like they could be real threats in the Big 12 if they can fix the red-zone offense
Auburn (5-0) - The offense has been explosive, the defense has been eh, at best, but with turnovers. As long as they keep forcing turnovers, the wins will continue to come
TCU (4-0) - The best non-BCS team is the one built on defense. The offense leaves plenty to be desired.
Iowa (5-0) - Unless Penn St. is really awful, the Hawkeyes are inconsistent and tend to overlook teams. They need to get that fixed before they lose to someone they shouldn't
LSU (5-0) - A very unimpressive 5-0, I expect at least three losses before the end because the offense is unable to move the football
USC (4-1) - USC picked a good year to be down. It appears that the rest of the Pac-10's top teams have imploded and the others don't have anywhere near the talent to match the Trojans over the full season. Could easily win the league with a 6-3 league record
Miami (3-1) - Not all the way back, but pretty good. Should enjoy a nice bowl destination, possibly in the BCS.
Ohio St. (4-1) - Get their first game against a team with a pulse since the loss to USC this week. It should be a battle against what appears to be a good Wisconsin team
Missouri (4-0) - Big 12 North supremacy on the line Thursday night against Nebraska. Will the TIgers hold their throne (maybe because of the homefield)?
Georgia Tech (4-1) - Option bound Yellow Jackets get to be the next team to gut-punch Bobby Bowden and Florida St., or they fall victim to whatever seems to befall favorites every week in the ACC
West Virginia (3-1) - A rash of turnovers at Auburn away from being undefeated and in the top 10. The Mountaineers are real threats to win the Big East if they stop shooting themselves in the foot.
Arizona (3-1) - THe win over Central Michigan looks better now than it did at the time and the only loss at Iowa isn't a bad loss at all
Oklahoma St. (3-1) - I have no idea how to read this team. They beat Georgia, lost to Houston, and feasted on cupcakes. We'll see next week
Kansas (4-0) - Jawhawks enter Big 12 play with more cupcake feasting for a few weeks.
Boise St. (5-0) - You want the high ranking BOise? Go schedule like BYU did this season. Where is the second major conference powerhouse to legitamize the Oregon win.
Oregon (4-1) - Oregon is probably better than this, but the loss to BOise puts a glass ceiling on them for now
South Florida (5-0) - Bulls have the perfect September with big upset thing down pat. Now they need to sustain it through the rest of the season.
Wisconsin (5-0) - Just looking at Wisconsin's scores doesn't give anyone an accurate picture of what they have done. Only the overtime win over Fresno St. has been anywhere near as close as the scores indicate
South Carolina (4-1) - I don't know what to make of these guys. The defense has been great (except for one big problem against Georgia) while the offense has been all over the place. Probably not long for this spot.
Houston (3-1) - A courtesy ranking for the two big wins considering what happened at UTEP. Cougars will remain here until they lose again, but aren't moving up unless something drastic happens
