Game of the week - USC @ Ohio St., ESPN 8 ET, Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit
Ohio St. looked sluggish last week and the only way I really see for them to win is a breakout performance by Terrelle Pryor. They won't get it as the OSU offensive line won't be able to protect him. USC wins despite some ugly mistakes from freshman OB Matt Barkley. USC 20, Ohio St. 14
Notre Dame @ Michigan, ABC 3:30 ET, Sean McDonough and Matt Millen
Both teams looked much improved last week. Michigan's performance was a mirage against a defense breaking in 10 new starters. Notre Dame's wasn't. Notre Dame 28, Michigan 17
Georgia Tech vs Clemson, ESPN 7:30 ET Thur, Chirs Fowler, Craig James, Jesse Palmer
I pity poor Clemson. They get to defend the triple option on a short week. Georgia Tech will make mincemeat out of the Tigers early and Clemson won't be able to catchup even once the defense adjusts in the second half. Georgia Tech 30, Clemson 21
Tennessee vs UCLA. ESPN 4 ET, Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge
Both teams are in a similar spot of rebuilding, but I think Tennessee has the advantage here with home-field, a more experienced quarterback who looked good last week, and more talent. UCLA will play weel, particularly on defense, but Tennessee's superior talent will win out in the end. Tennessee 24, UCLA 13
Georgia vs South Carolina, ESPN2 7ET, Mike Patrick and Craig James
If you plan on watching this game, I hope you like defense. The winner hasn't been over 20 in this game since Steve Spurrier got to South Carolina and both offenses looked putrid last week. South Carolina wins because they seem to be the healthier team. South Carolina 13, Georgia 9
Oklahoma St. vs Houston, FSN 3:30 ET, Bill Land and Gary Reasons
Expect a shootout here. For about five years now, Houston has had a BCS conference caliber offense and a 1-AA caliber defense to balance it out. Oklahoma St's defense looked much improved last week, but I think that was just Georgia's offense playing bad. Oklahoma St. will win, but they'll sweat it out along the way. Oklahoma St. 41, Houston 35
West Virginia vs East Carolina, ESPN 360 3:30 ET, I assume the powers that be in the Big East avoided putting this game on television for fear of a repeat of last seasons ECU win.
West Virginia has more talent and a complete dimwit for a coach. They'll win this year because of the homefield, but I still have very little confidence in the Mountaineers for the season. West Virginia 27, East Carolina 20
Penn St. vs Syracuse, Big Ten Network Noon ET, Craig Coshun and Glen Mason
After last weeks relatively strong performance, I expect Syracuse to give Penn St. their best non-conference game of the season. Too bad that is a three touchdown blowout. Penn St. 31, Syracuse 10
North Carolina @ Connecticut, ESPNU Noon ET, Clay Matvick and David Diaz-Infante
North Carolina has a strong defense and is improving on offense. Connecticut has a strong defense and no passing game to speak of. Tar Heels win. North Carolina 23, Connecticut 10
Air Force @ Minnesota, Big Ten Network 7ET, Wayne Larivee and Chris Martin
Air Force currently leads the nation in scoring and scoring margin after their 72-0 win last week while Minnesota was nearly embarrassed after almost losing a football game to a point guard. All trends point to an Air Force win except one. Minnesota is opening their new stadium. THey will jump out to a lead and option bound Air Force won't be able to come all the way back. Minnesota 31, Air Force 27
