Game of the Week – Texas A&M vs Nebraska (-2.5), 5PM PT, ABC Regional/ESPN Gameplan
Ryan Tannehill has energized the Aggies since replacing Jerrod Johnson. Since his insertion into the lineup, Texas A&M has played its best football in quite some time. At the same time, Nebraska has been ranked in the top 10 all season, but with the exception of three big time performances (at Washington, at Kansas St., and against Missouri) the Cornhuskers have been underwhelming. They will have to play a complete game to win here and I don't think they can do it considering the current health problems of Taylor Martinez.
Texas A&M 31, Nebraska 24
Iowa vs Ohio St. (-3), 1230 PM PT, ABC
Ohio St. needs this to stay in the Big Ten title chase while Iowa is nearly out of it. This game comes down to match ups. For Ohio St., this Iowa team is a terrible matchup. In fact, if Iowa had a quarterback (Ricky Stanzi was injured), they would have won in Columbus last season. The Hawkeyes defensive line (which has underachieved) will control this game just as Wisconsin's did and the Iowa offense offense will do just enough to get the win at home.
Iowa 17, Ohio St. 13
Miami vs Virginia Tech (-2.5), 1230 PM PT, ESPN
Virginia Tech has come roaring back to life with a huge big-play offense opposite an average defense. Not normal for them, but Miami has issues on offense no mater who the quarterback is. Ultimately, the Hurricanes will win if they can avoid turnovers. Steven Morris in for the injured Jacory Harris does that even if he doesn't hit as many big plays.
Miami 24, Virginia Tech 20
Mississippi St. vs Arkansas (-3), 4PM PT, ESPN
Mississippi St. played a terrible game at Alabama last week. The talk of the Cam Newton investigation and the death of teammate Nick Bell seems to have taken the life out of them. At the same time, Arkansas has been playing its best ball of the season since getting run over at Auburn. The Bulldogs will wilt in the second half after a strong first half, at least on defense.
Arkansas 34, Mississippi St. 17
Michigan vs Wisconsin (-4.5), 9 AM PT, ESPN
Wisconsin's defense is pretty good. Good enough to curtail the Michigan offense enough to win this game. The Michigan defense is going to get incinerated again.
Wisconsin 45, Michigan 30
Boise St. (-30.5) vs Fresno St., 630 PM PT Friday, ESPN2
Game is on the blue turf. Boise wins big.
Boise St. 49, Fresno St. 17
Maryland vs Florida St. (-4.5), 5 PM PT, ABC Regional/ESPN Gameplan
The Terps don't really do anything well. That doesn't seem to bode well when playing Florida St., but the seminoles are so inconsistent that nobody really knows what will happen. I just can't see Florida St. winning the division still, so I have to choose Maryland here.
Maryland 21, Florida St. 20
North Carolina (-2) vs NC State, 9AM PT, ACC Syndication/ESPN Gameplan
North Carolina might finally be running out of gas and NC State has killed them year after year lately no matter how bad the Wolfpack are and how good the Tar Heels have been. Now that NC State is good and North Carolina is average, I expect the Wolfpack to continue their dominance.
NC State 34, North Carolina 24
San Diego St. vs Utah (-2.5), 7 PM PT, MTN
Utah is coming apart at the seams. Jordan Wynn seems to have lost his confidence all of a sudden and while Terrance Cain gives the Utes a better chance to win, he won't enter the game until its too late. San Diego St. will withstand the late rally and get another big win.
San Diego St. 34, Utah 28
Baylor vs Oklahoma (-7.5), 5 PM PT, ESPN2
Oklahoma has issues on the road to say the least. Luckily for them, Baylor still has little home field advantage. Losing for 15 years will do that. Oklahoma still won't play up to potential, but the Baylor defense won't stop them enough to get the win.
Oklahoma 34, Baylor 27
