Matchup: Florida St. vs Notre Dame. When we last saw the Seminoles, they were partaking on one of the worst offensive games in the sports history, beating Florida 21-7 despite less than 100 yards of offense. Notre Dame fired up the turnover machine often and turned the ball over, a lot, in bunches, at inopportune times. And gave away games all season because of it.
Matchup Pedigree: Off the charts. Florida St. carries two National Titles and the status of ACC flagship program despite not being national title good in over a decade. Notre Dame is Notre Dame. Anyone reading this blog should know that.
Locale: Pretty good. Is the weather ever truly bad in Orlando? Is the stadium a total dump? The answer to these is both no meaning this game is a good locale.
Entertainment Value: Medium. Likely defensive struggle, but seeing Brian Kelly's head explode after the latest ND turnover is usually worth it.
Corporate Nonsense: RAGE. I deny the existence of the Champs Sports Bowl. Other than in this preview, it will be called by its true name: the Tangerine Bowl.
Bowl Pedigree: Good. Big East 2 vs ACC 3 is a nice get and all sorts of history belong to this bowl game in its many corporate incarnations. Among them a great top 10 matchup in its first year as the Blockbuster Bowl back in the early 1990s (Florida St.-Penn St., pre-conference alignment).
Game Prediction: Florida St. has a stellar defense. Notre Dame has a turnover machine. The turnover machine will be on. INTs and fumbles will be the order of the day. Even the pop gun Florida St. offense can win under those circumstances.
Should you watch: Yes, Yes, Yes. Two tradition laden programs and the possibly for RAGE FACE and comedic turnovers mean this is a must watch.
