Game of the Week – Penn St. vs Alabama (-10) in the trying to win with 2 QBs bowl
I'm not totally sold on Alabama, especially offensively. There is no deep threat and Trent Richardson had problems getting going against Kent St. (don't look at the 3 TDs, look at the 2.8 yards per carry). That said, Penn St. with their awful quarterback situation won't be scoring enough to win this game if they added their score 5 times, just like last year.
Alabama 24, Penn St. 3
Arizona St. (-7.5) vs Missouri
The Missouri coaching staff oddly has forgotten how to use a mobile quarterback. These are the guys who sicked Brad Smith on the world with no defense to speak of while building the program, yet they can't get James Franklin right? I expect that to be rectified as long as Vontaze Burfict doesn't kill poor Mr. Franklin, a distinct possibility. The other question of course is whether Burfict kills the refs after they penalize him for killing Franklin.

Georgia vs South Carolina (-3)
I suspect Georgia is really bad after what we saw last week from them against Boise St. The problems are the same as they have been since the Alabama Black Out game in 2008 (also pretty much the death of the program under Mark Richt). No discipline and a declining defense and offensive line that both get pushed around regularly by anyone of competence. South Carolina got their awful yip out of the way by starting Connor Shaw last week. Stephen Garcia is back as the starter and the Gamecocks will roll.
South Carolina 31, Georgia 14
Auburn vs Mississippi St. (-6.5)
Auburn was flat out awful last week until they realized Barrett Trotter is a pretty good thrower. I expect that to continue this week. If the Tigers can keep this game close into the 4th quarter somehow, who would bet against them at this point? Not me and they will somehow be in range entering the 4th despite all their issues. Mississippi St. is not quite ready to win this type of game as a program yet.
Auburn 38, Mississippi St. 35
Texas (-7) vs BYU
These two teams are dead even. Both underachieve relative to their offensive talent levels and have very good defenses. When in doubt on something like this, pick the home team.
Texas 17, BYU 14
USC (-8.5) vs Utah
Another matchup of unimpressive teams from a week ago. Utah took it easy against FCS Montana St. and USC almost got caught by Minnesota. Given that, I go with Utah. I think USC has some major internal issues that will start catching up with them sooner rather than later. Despit ethat, Matt Barkley will get his yards.
Utah 27, USC 20
Oklahoma St. (-14) vs Arizona
Rematch of a blowout bowl game will end up exactly like blowout bowl game. Even the score will be similar. Needless to say, I do not believe in Arizona at all this year.
Oklahoma St. 35, Arizona 16
Michigan vs Notre Dame (-3.5)
First night game ever at Michigan gets College Gameday to visit. What Gameday will see won't be pretty. Notre Dame will move the ball at will and the Michigan offense will show its first signs of trouble. Also, Notre Dame won't shoot itself in the foot quite as many times.
Notre Dame 38, Michigan 24
Colorado vs Cal (-6)
Colorado is awful. That was the takeaway from losing to Hawaii last week. Cal is unknown but stomped Fresno St. I like that result more and think Cal can't possibly be as bad as they were last year again.
Cal 31, Colorado 17
Washington St. (-13.5) vs UNLV
UNLV moved the ball well against Wisconsin despite scoring only 17 points. I expect that to be the same. Sadly, they are basically an FCS team on defense and Washington St. scored over 60 on one of those last week. I expect more of the same despite playing without injured quarterback Jeff Tuel.
Washington St. 48, UNLV 30
