Cincinnati – The Bearcats dismantled Missouri after many though they were a potential upset victim. The Tigers never had a chance once Cincinnati assumed control midway through the first half and had one of the worst offensive stretches anyone in the tournament will have with the 11 minute field goal drought they went through during the game.
Florida – The Gators were thought to be over seeded at number two and they came out to prove that wasn't the case. Poor UC Santa Barbara got run over by a focused group of Gators. The 43-19 halftime score is all that is necessary to explain this.
Connecticut – Another focused team, the five game run through the Big East seemed to half no ill effect on the Huskies and the win was easy enough that the starters got a nice rest late in the game to prep for conference rival Cincinnati on Saturday.
Illinois – Though UNLV was on the other list of awful performances, the Illinois offense in particular deserves a mention here. That was as complete an offensive performance I have seen from the Illini in years and, other than BYU's dismantling of UNLV in Las Vegas in January, the only time all season that anyone made the UNLV defense look amateur and ill-prepared.
Memphis – I know Memphis lost, but who was expecting anything from these guys after watching conference rival UAB in the first four. Memphis was about equal with UAB throughout the season, but they played like they belonged in the field against Arizona having numerous chances to win before falling short on a Derrick Williams block at the end. A well-played game by the Tigers.
