Cavaliers and Wizards on way to historic low game as long as they don't win

Normally I don't deal with too many professional sports and certainly not the NBA in this blog though I am a fan of the league and enjoy watching its games. Right now though, we have a story that I can only hope is seen through. Of course I am talking about the Cleveland Cavaliers league record 25 game losing streak.

At this point, there is no redeeming value to the Cavs, even in the halls of futility. They started 7-9 before their fall all the way to 8-44 meaning they really aren't a threat to the 76ers 9-73 worst season ever record since, as soon as they manage to beat someone (and they will since they are getting closer), other bad team that are tanking for better draft picks will no show for the Cavs giving them a shot at 15 wins this season and likely getting them to 12 or 13 no matter what happens.

In addition, the Cavs aren't really lovable or even likeable losers. It was only last season that they had home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs for the second straight year on the back of LeBron James. While people are sympathetic, they don't really like the Cavs so much as hate James at this point. The chance Cleveland had to be likable was squandered when they quit and got booed out of their own arena in James return in December.

Despite that, the Cavs have one last beacon of relevance as losers. They are just two losses away from the most relevant losers game in NBA history. Two more losses would string the losing streak to 27 games and bring a visit from the Washington Wizards. The 0-25 on the road Washington Wizards. Just for the sake of all losing outfits that ever wanted to be relevant, even if only for a day, when not playing the top teams in the league, this matchup must happen.

Of course, the Cavs still must do their part. The Wizards two remaining games before Sunday's showdown of the weak are at home. The Cavs still must lose twice. The Pistons have been playing better the last few weeks and should handle the Cavs. Too bad that Friday brings the worst case scenario. A huge roadblock standing in the way of the ultimate losers battle. A test so bad that Cleveland will likely win and deny their fans the spectacle of seeing their team lose correctly (poor Cleveland fans, they can't ever win and even when they lose, they don't get to enjoy that). Though the opponent is much improved this season, I can't help but think their tradition of losing will submarine any chance to have the ultimate losers game and have it not involve them. So please, Cleveland, throw Friday's game. Make sure you lose just to get the worst game in NBA history. After Friday, you can do whatever you want and I won't care. Might even root for you.

That said, don't win Friday night against the CLIPPERS.
