Game of the Week – Auburn (-6) vs LSU, 1230 PM PT, CBS
Auburn is weak against the pass but LSU can't throw. LSU's defense is a brick wall but the Auburn offense is the best they faced and Florida had some success with quarterback runs. This will be the usual weird and close Auburn-LSU game after taking a season off last year. Auburn will win, the question is how long will it take to put this one away?
Auburn 27, LSU 20
Missouri vs Oklahoma (-3), 5PM PT, ABC
Oklahoma has been bad on the road despite winning thus far while Missouri is totally untested by elite competition. That said, the Tigers would be the pick here except for the Sooners longterm dominance in this series. It doesn't seem to matter what Missouri has, Oklahoma always beats them. I can't actually pick the Tigers against the Sooners until they actually do it once (I have been burned at three times that I can recall doing just that).
Oklahoma 34, Missouri 30
Iowa (-6) vs Wisconsin, 1230 PM PT, ABC/ESPN
Wisconsin isn't that good and won't be able to rely on the home crowd to keep them in the game. Iowa is that good, especially at home and will control this game with its great defensive line and Ricky Stanzi won't make enough mistakes to keep Wisconsin in the game.
Iowa 24, Wisconsin 13
Oklahoma St. vs Nebraska (-6), 1230 PM PT, ABC/ESPN
Texas exposed some flaws with the Nebraska offense last week, but Oklahoma St.'s defense won't be good enough to exploit that, even at home. The Cowboys will keep it close unlike Kansas St., but with no big plays to be had against the Nebraska defense, the grinding will eventually get tough and Nebraska will pull away at the end.
Nebraska 34, Oklahoma St. 21
TCU (-18.5) vs Air Force, 5PM PT, CBS College Sports
Air Force got caught looking ahead and lost to San Diego St. Now the season could quickly spiral out of control with this game and Utah still upcoming. Meanwhile, nobody has scored a touchdown against TCU since September. While that streak won't continue, the Horned Frogs will win easily as Air Force also lacks the athletes on defense to stop the TCU offense.
TCU 37, Air Force 17
Ohio St. (-23.5) vs Purdue, 9AM PT, Big Ten Network
Ohio St. somehow managed to lose this game last season and they are looking up at Purdue in the Big Ten standings. Considering the Boilermakers are playing without most of their best skill position talent due to injuries, what they have accomplished already is impressive. That said, they have no chance here. The Buckeyes blow everyone out the week after losses.
Ohio St. 48, Purdue 14
Northwestern vs Michigan St. (-5.5), 9AM PT, ESPN
Northwestern is really not any good. The loss to Purdue and close call against Minnesota prove that. That said this is Sparty and Sparty traditionally loses these types of games. Now that that's out of the way, there is no way Michigan St. loses this game. They matchup well with Northwestern and are playing with too much confidence to get tripped up here.
Michigan St. 38, Northwestern 24
Miami (-6.5) vs North Carolina, 430 PM PT, ESPN2
I really want to pick North Carolina, but I can't bring myself to do it. Too many distractions and Miami should be mad after two lackluster efforts the las two weeks, especially playing at home.
Miami 27, North Carolina 20
Arizona (-6.5) vs Washington, 715PM PT, ESPN
I don't believe in Arizona quarterback Matt Scott at all. His insertion into the lineup because of Nick Foles' injury is going to kill this offense and the defense won't be able to stand on its head against Jake Locker the entire game.
Washington 26, Arizona 17
Vanderbilt vs South Carolina (-12.5), 4PM PT, FSN Regional/ESPN Gameplan
The winner is in control of the SEC East and while South Carolina has traditionally lost games like this, they have normally beaten Kentucky. The script changes again and South Carolina actually blows out a team it is supposed to blow out to get back on track (even without Lattimore who is injured).
South Carolina 41, Vanderbilt 14
