Weekly College Football Viewer's Guide – Week 4

Welcome to week four of the viewer's guide. As usual, games will be ranked in order of importance and entertainment value to help decide what games are best in each time slot.

Morning Games – 9AM PT start
NC State @ Georgia Tech – ESPN
Virginia Tech @ Boston College – Raycom/ESPN Gameplan
Bowling Green @ Michigan – ESPN2
Central Florida @ Kansas St. - FSN
Central Michigan @ Northwestern – Big Ten Network
Florida International @ Maryland - ESPNU
UAB @ Tennessee – SEC Network/ESPN Gameplan

For those of you living on the west coast, feel free to sleep in and blame the Big Ten for is nonsense scheduling this week. There is nothing really worth watching in this time slot. NC State is still undefeated and a road underdog so they could draw some interest. Virginia Tech/Boston College should be a good game, but unless you live in certain areas, have ESPN Game or have access to espn3.com, there is no access for this game. The rest are all just there. Nothing really special at all about any of them. Tune in at the end and see if there is upset potential in any of them. If nothing is good and you live in Mountain West country, check out the Air Force Wyoming game with its oddball 11AM PT kickoff.

Afternoon Games – 1230PM PT start
Alabama @ Arkansas – CBS
Stanford @ Notre Dame – NBC
UCLA @ Texas – ABC/ESPN
Wake Forest @ Florida St. - ABC Regional/ESPN Gameplan
Temple @ Penn St. - Big Ten Network
North Carolina @ Rutgers – ESPNU
USC @ Washington St. - FSN Regional
Eastern Michigan @ Ohio St. - ESPN/ABC

A wide variety of good games along with a few awful ones. Of course most, unless their team is playing in this time slot, will be tuned to Alabama/Arkansas. The Stanford/Notre Dame game has the potential to be good and the UCLA/Texas game is likely to be interesting for a little while until the Texas defense disembowels the UCLA offense. The rest are only listed in case of favorite teams or blowouts.

Primetime Games – 3-5 PM PT start
South Carolina @ Auburn - ESPN
Oregon St. @ Boise St. - ABC
Kentucky @ Florida - ESPNU
Nevada @ BYU – MTN
Fresno St. @ Ole Miss – CSS/ESPN Gameplan
Oklahoma @ Cincinnati – ESPN2
Georgia @ Mississippi St. - FSN Regional/ESPN Gameplan

South Carolina/Auburn is listed first because there is a lot less blowout potential there than at Oregon St./Boise St. If the Boise game is close though, it is the game to watch. The rest are just to keep an eye one. Nothing really stands out in this slot either.

Late Night Games – 6PM PT or later start
West Virginia @ LSU – ESPN2
Oregon @ Arizona St. - FSN
Cal @ Arizona – FSN Reg
New Mexico @ UNLV – MTN

No question here that West Virginia/LSU is the game to watch even if only for the possibility of a game killing coaching blunder, possibly involving the clock. Arizona St. could keep things interesting against Oregon and Cal/Arizona is likely to be close if you have access to it. The New Mexico/UNLV is only listed here because of its status as the first true toilet bowl level game of the season.
